Essential Med Kit - For a Relatively Healthy Millenial on The Road

Hey, you Be-ings!

If there's one thing travel has taught me, it's to always expect the unexpected. And that's why I never leave home without my trusty travel med kit. I think I'm a relatively healthy human overall, but when I am ill or in pain, I am a miserable pain in the ass even for myself. So, to help myself in the times I may feel least able to, I always have a few things with me that make me feel safer and self-reliant, more ''surprise proof'' so to speak.

Here's a sneak peek into my kit...

When it comes to regular holidays and travel, I always pack the following essentials in my med kit:

  1. Beechams: Because the common cold can strike anywhere, even in paradise.

  2. Painkillers: Whether it's a headache from those cheap cocktails or an achy body from too much sightseeing, these babies are lifesavers.

  3. Antihistamines, mosquito and bug spray: In spring and summer, when I'm exploring beautiful landscapes, I want to remember the views, not the bug bites.

  4. Sunscreen: Because no one wants to look like a lobster in their vacation photos, right?

  5. Plasters and Blastoestimulina: For those pesky cuts and blisters (I do have an article about my blister fight and triuph experiences from the Camino in 2020).

  6. Antibacterial Gel/Sanitiser: Because you never know when you'll have to high-five a monkey that has been picking its nose 2 minutes ago.

As for hiking and camping, I amp up my kit with:

  1. Water purifying tablets: Fresh mountain stream water sounds delightful, until you're up all night wishing you hadn't drunk it. Just in case, these are a must.

  2. Self-adhesive bandages: Because hurting yourself is not fun, but not being able to cover a bigger cut or support a struggling ankle is worst.

  3. Wet Wipes: Ideal for freshening up when there's no shower in sight.

  4. Diarrhea Medication: Let's not go into details. It's a good idea. Trust me.

  5. Natural and eco-friendly soaps, showering products: Let's love Mother Nature as she loves us!

There you have it, folks.

My tried and tested essential travel med kit.

But remember, everyone's different, so pack what works for you and keeps you comfortable and healthy.

Safe travels, everyone! May your journeys be filled with joy, your bags be light, and your med kit never be needed.

But just in case, be prepared and if you're open - please share about your own medical kit and recommendations in the comments.
